Jim Barton had the misfortune to be born in poverty in
Yorkshire. Whilst still living in poverty, he has been
granted political asylum in Thornton Cleveleys –
a huge dormitory between Fleetwood and Blackpool.
His passage thru’ life has been littered with huge
events of little-or-no importance and MS speeded his early
departure from a business run for people, by dedicated
people – The Hospitality Industry. This is the politically
correct wording for ‘slavery’.
Later, a stroke – which he can’t decide whether
to brag or complain about - pushed him further onto life’s
scrapheap. He took-up his pen to aid the functioning of
his right arm and his brain.. There is room for doubt
as to the success of this therapy. He reads his work aloud
as part of speech therapy and it makes a pleasant change
from talking to the dog and his wife…his normal
capacity audience when performing as AL JUSTAVARF. The
name came about through constant repetition of his customary
fee for reading.
Personal conversations can be entered into by phoning
‘Cleveleys Writers’, N.F.S. Productions or
Age-Concern. The number is available on small cards in
telephone boxes in ‘not-very-nice’ areas of
towns. It is (01253) 828509.
His writing style is quite unique and has been described
by noteworthy scribes and critics as ‘chopped-up
prose.’ and by self-acclaimed experts as ‘waffle’.
