The
Shakespeare Connection

It
is now widely believed that William Shakespeare spent a small,
but extremely crucial part of his youth at Hoghton Tower.
Many historians and literary
academics are now convinced that the Bard came to Lancashire
in his early years, living with, and being protected by, several
prominent Catholic families in the county.
It would seem Shakespeare's
time at Hoghton Tower was spent as a tutor and player, with
his main activities being educating the children and providing
entertainment for the family.
Hoghton
Tower is situated on the A675 midway between Blackburn and
Preston.
